As food lovers, we are blessed to live in a country like the US where food is abundant. As human beings, we cannot stand still while over 29,000 children have already died from famine and malnutrition in the Horn of Africa. Parents are burying their children every day, and they are so frail to even move or walk. This is the worst drought to hit the area in over 60 years!
Many US organizations are already on the ground helping with food and shelter and providing medical care. We can do our share by donating to those organizations and help the starving families. A small donation can provide food for a family for a week!
There are many charitable US organizations helping with the famine relief. Among them are:
UNICEF USA

Mercy Corps

Ameri Cares

Thank you all!

Today President Obama turns 50! Happy Birthday Mr. President!
President Obama will celebrate with a small gathering in the White House Rose Garden today. The guest list includes a lot of celebrities. Then he will go to Chicago for a big birthday celebration.
We wonder what food will be served, and what the birthday cake looks like?! Hmm ....

Happy Father's Day President Obama!
Happy Father's Day to President Obama and to all fathers around the world. May you all celebrate in love and peace.
We love this picture of President Obama with Sasha and Malia. Sasha is definitely daddy's little girl.
Did you guys know that the White House has released some delicious Father's Days recipes collection, including soups, salads, entrees, and desserts. They are available at Obama Foodorama. We know we'll try them, starting with desserts. Oh yeah!

President Obama visits Kasalta Bakery in Puerto Rico
During his recent visit to Puerto Rico, the first by a President since Kennedy in 1961, President Obama visited Kasalta Bakery located in the Ocean Park neighborhood in Old San Juan.
We visited the Kasalta Bakery website, they really have great food. Check it out:

"Medianoche" Sandwich
At Kasalta, President Obama stood at the counter and ordered, accompanied by close friend and advisor Eric Whitaker and senior White House advisor Valerie Jarrett.
“We've got to try some food,’’ President Obama said.
Reading the menu posted on the wall, he said: “This looks pretty good. What do we get here?’’
The President ordered a sandwich called a "Medianoche". Sounds delicious!

Hello Fellow Foodies!
The 2012 Obama campaign is well under way, and we volunteers and organizers are working hard.
From June 4th to August 6th, summer organizers will help lay the groundwork for 2012 across the country, planning events, registering voters, and building neighborhood teams. We are having a lot of fun, and of course we are sharing delicious food and baked goods at these events.
